Every so often, a story involving an unusual drunk driving arrest will make the news. Law enforcement typically watches out for drivers who they suspect are driving while intoxicated. Drivers are pulled over and may be administered a breath test or field sobriety test to determine whether they were drinking and driving.

Last month, Pennsylvania police pulled over man after he had been riding around on his scooter. It appears that the stop was actually because the man had been in a park after hours. However when police approached the man, he apparently began to ride away on the scooter.

Police chased the man, eventually pulling him over. According to the officers, the man was exhibiting signs of intoxication. Police allegedly smelled alcohol on him and observed that he was unable to stand up without wavering.

Another factor that can be used when pressing charges is BAC level of the driver was at the time of the traffic stop. Here the man on the scooter apparently had a BAC level that was almost three times the state's legal limit. As a result, he is currently facing a DUI charge.

People often don't hear about people on scooters getting pulled over for drunk driving. However clearly being on a scooter does not preclude you from being stopped. If police suspect you are intoxicated, you could find yourself in a situation similar to this man's. If that's the case, it can be important to protect both your rights and your future.

A criminal conviction, whether it is for drunk driving or something else, can have an impact on your life. Not only are there legal penalties, there are also serious implications for your personal and professional life.
